Concrete Paths & Footpaths Across the Fraser Coast

A concrete path looks simple, but a good one does a lot of quiet work — it keeps mud off your feet, gives a safe, even route around your place, handles wheelbarrows, prams and mobility aids, and ties your yard together. We pour paths, footpaths and walkways across Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay, built with the right width, falls and finish so they are safe to use and stand up for years.

Width and falls matter more than people think. A path that is too narrow is awkward to use, especially with a wheelbarrow or a pram, so we set sensible widths for the job. Falls are set so water sheets off the path rather than pooling or running back toward the house, which keeps the surface safe and the area around it dry. These are easy things to get wrong and we make a point of getting them right.

Slip resistance is the other big one, particularly out here where we get heavy summer downpours and where paths often run alongside pools, down slopes or to the front door. A broom finish gives good grip as standard, and where extra slip resistance is needed we can finish accordingly. The aim is a path that is just as safe wet as it is dry, because a slippery path is a hazard nobody needs.

Underneath the finish, a path is still proper concrete work — a compacted base, reinforcement where it is needed, the right thickness, and control joints cut so any shrinkage cracks happen along the joints rather than randomly across the surface. We do the basics properly so your path does not crack up or sink. Local, licensed, insured, and we leave the site clean.

What We Offer

Garden & side paths

Paths around the home and through the yard, sized for comfortable use with wheelbarrows, prams and foot traffic.

Footpaths & walkways

Longer runs and connecting walkways, including paths to the door, shed, clothesline or gate.

Sensible widths

Path widths set for the job so they are comfortable and practical, not awkwardly narrow.

Falls & drainage

Falls set so water sheets off the path and away from the house — no pooling and no slippery puddles.

Slip-resistant finishes

Broom and textured finishes for grip when wet, important on slopes, near pools and in our heavy rain.

Reinforcement & joints

Reinforcement where needed and control joints cut in the right spots so cracking is managed and the path lasts.

Our Paths & Footpaths Process

No mystery, no shortcuts. Here's exactly how we approach every paths & footpaths job on the Fraser Coast — so you know what's happening at each stage.

  1. 01

    Free on-site consult & measure-up

We walk the route with you, measure it up and look at the levels, drainage and how the path will be used. We recommend sensible widths and finishes so the path is practical for prams, wheelbarrows or whatever it needs to carry.

  2. 02

    Written fixed quote, itemised

You get a written quote covering the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, finish, joints and clean-up. It is all spelled out so you know exactly what is included before we start, with a GST tax invoice at the end.

  3. 03

    Booking & site preparation

We confirm a date and arrive on time to set out the path, strip the topsoil and compact the base. A well-prepared base keeps the path from sinking or cracking, so we do not skip it even on smaller jobs.

  4. 04

    Formwork & falls

We set the formwork to the right line, width and falls so the path is even and water sheets off rather than pooling. We check the falls carefully before any concrete goes near it.

  5. 05

    Reinforcement & pour

We add reinforcement where it is needed, then pour and screed to level. For longer runs we keep the line and surface consistent so the finished path looks neat from end to end.

  6. 06

    Finishing & joints

We apply a slip-resistant finish, usually a broom finish, and cut control joints at the correct spacing so any shrinkage cracks happen along the joints instead of across the surface.

  7. 07

    Cure, clean-up & walkthrough

We cure the path, clean up the site and remove the rubbish, then let you know when you can walk on it. Care and sealing advice and your tax invoice are provided on completion.

No surprises

Honest, Transparent Pricing

Paths are quoted as a fixed price in writing before we start, with the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, finish, joints and clean-up all itemised, and a GST tax invoice on completion. Even on a small job you get a clear, firm price — no vague verbal numbers and no extras tacked on afterwards.

If a genuine variation comes up once we set out — for instance the ground needing more prep, or you deciding to extend the run while we are there — we explain it and agree the change in writing before we pour. You always know what you are paying and you stay in control of it.

We also give honest, practical advice. If a path could be a touch wider to be more useful, or if a particular finish would be safer underfoot for where the path runs, we will tell you. And if a smaller, simpler job will do what you need, we are not going to talk you into more than that. Straight talk on every job, big or small.

Concrete Paths & Footpaths FAQs

How wide should a concrete path be?
It depends on the use. A simple garden path can be narrower, but a path you will use with a wheelbarrow, pram or mobility aid should be wide enough to be comfortable, often around a metre or more. We recommend a sensible width for how you will actually use it, rather than going too narrow to save a little concrete.
How do you make a path non-slip?
A broom finish gives good grip as standard, and where extra slip resistance is needed — on slopes, near pools or at entries — we can finish accordingly. Given our heavy summer rain, we always have slip resistance in mind so the path is as safe wet as it is dry. We will recommend the right finish for where it runs.
How thick should a concrete path be?
A typical domestic path is around 75 to 100mm over a compacted base, with reinforcement where needed. Where a path might take occasional vehicle weight, like a mower or a vehicle crossing, we increase the thickness. We work it out for your situation and include it in the quote.
Will my path crack?
All concrete moves a little as it cures, which is why we cut control joints at the right spacing. These give the path a planned line to crack along rather than cracking randomly across the surface. With a compacted base, reinforcement where needed and well-placed joints, you should not see significant cracking.
How long before I can walk on a new path?
You can usually walk on it carefully after about 24 hours, but it keeps gaining strength for days afterward, so go easy on it early. We will give you exact timing on the day based on the weather and the mix, and let you know when it is right for heavier use.
