Craignish is all about lifestyle blocks with room to do things properly. Even though Craignish ground is generally firmer than the sandy blocks nearer the coast, we never take the base for granted. We always check the fall so water sheds off the driveway and slabs properly, and we assess access so trucks and gear can reach the pour without damaging the block. Firmer rural ground is a good start, but the planning still has to be done right.

When you have machinery, trailers, a boat or heavier vehicles to park, a proper hardstand gives you solid, level ground that does not bog up after rain or rut out under load. We pour them to handle the weight they will carry, with the right fall so water clears, so the area stays usable all year round rather than turning into a problem every wet season.

Craignish still sits in the coastal zone, so the salt air is a factor even on these inland-feeling acreage blocks. We recommend sealing on driveways, paths and exposed aggregate to protect the surface, hold the finish and make cleaning easier over the years. It is a small step that pays off on a big driveway.

Curing matters just as much. The Fraser Coast summer is hot, and on a long driveway or a big shed slab there is a lot of concrete to bring up to strength the right way. We time our pours, manage the slab through the heat and cure it properly so it does not crack. Where a driveway meets the road we also make sure any council crossover is set up to meet Fraser Coast Regional Council requirements, so the approvals are handled rather than left as a surprise.
