Concreters Dundowran Beach

The big draw of Dundowran Beach is the room. Lifestyle and acreage blocks, including the horse properties out this way, give owners the space for serious sheds, long driveways and outdoor areas that simply would not fit on a suburban lot. That space is great, but it does mean the concreting needs to be planned properly, because the distances are longer and the loads can be heavier, especially where vehicles, floats or machinery are coming and going.

Shed slabs are a regular job here. Whether it is a workshop, a machinery shed or storage for a property, the slab has to be set up to suit what sits on it and what drives across it. We get the thickness, levels and edges right so the slab stays flat and solid, and so the shed sits true on top of it for the long haul.

On horse properties and lifestyle blocks we also see a fair bit of demand for stable slabs, feed and tack room floors, and hardstands around the working part of the property. These areas take a beating, so they need to be poured tough and finished sensibly for the job they do. Even set back a little from the water, Dundowran Beach still gets its share of coastal air, and that is worth taking seriously with concrete. Salt and moisture work away at unsealed surfaces over time, dulling the finish and making it harder to keep clean. We recommend sealing for driveways, paths and exposed aggregate out here, because a good seal protects the surface against the coastal climate, holds the colour and makes day-to-day cleaning far easier.

On a lifestyle block where you have invested in a proper driveway or a nice exposed aggregate area, sealing is cheap insurance. It keeps the concrete looking the way it did the day we finished it for a lot longer.

There is no sense gold-plating a back hardstand that only sees the tractor, but the driveway and the entertaining area where you actually spend time are worth doing properly. Dundowran Beach gets the full Fraser Coast summer, and curing is something we never cut corners on. We time our pours around the heat, manage the slab through the hottest hours and cure it properly so it builds strength without surface cracking. On a long driveway that is a lot of concrete to get right, and doing it carefully is what makes it last.

Where a driveway connects to the road, there can be a council crossover to deal with, and we make sure that side meets Fraser Coast Regional Council requirements so the approval is not a problem after the fact. As a local crew, we know how this works around the bay.
