Pool Surrounds — Hervey Bay & Fraser Coast
Non-slip, cool-finish concrete pool surrounds with proper expansion joints, coping tie-in and compliance in mind. Quoted in writing, finished safely and cleaned up.
Concrete Pool Surrounds Across the Fraser Coast
The area around your pool gets walked on barefoot, splashed constantly and baked in full sun, so it has to be three things at once: safe, comfortable underfoot and good-looking. A pool surround is not a job for a plain hot slab. We pour pool surrounds across Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the Fraser Coast that are non-slip when wet, stay cooler in the sun, and tie in neatly with your pool coping for a finished, safe result.
Exposed aggregate is the standout choice for pool surrounds and for good reason — the textured stone surface gives natural grip even when wet and soapy, and lighter blends stay cooler underfoot than dark or solid surfaces. We also pour coloured and other decorative finishes, always with slip resistance front of mind. The aim is a surface kids can run on safely, that does not burn bare feet at the height of summer, and that looks the part.
The technical details around a pool matter. Expansion joints have to be placed correctly so the surround can move independently of the pool shell and the house without cracking. The tie-in to the coping needs to be neat and watertight so the transition from pool edge to surround works properly. And pool areas come with safety and compliance requirements around fencing and barriers that the surround layout has to respect. We handle all of this as part of doing the job right.
Underneath the finish it is still proper concrete work — a compacted base, correct reinforcement, the right falls so water drains away from the pool and the house, and joints placed for movement. We get the structure and the safety right, then deliver the finish you want. QBCC licensed and insured, local, and we leave your pool area clean and ready to enjoy.
What We Offer
Non-slip finishes
Exposed aggregate and other textured finishes that grip when wet — safe for bare feet and running kids around the pool.
Cool-underfoot options
Lighter stone and colour blends that stay cooler in full Fraser Coast sun, so the surround is comfortable barefoot.
Expansion joints
Joints placed correctly so the surround moves independently of the pool shell and house without cracking.
Coping tie-in
Neat, watertight transition between the pool coping and the surround so the pool edge works as it should.
Falls & drainage
Falls set so water drains away from the pool and the house, keeping the area dry and the surface safe.
Compliance & safety in mind
Layout that respects pool fencing and barrier requirements, with safety front of mind throughout.
Our Pool Surrounds Process
No mystery, no shortcuts. Here's exactly how we approach every pool surrounds job on the Fraser Coast — so you know what's happening at each stage.
- 01
Free on-site consult & measure-up
We visit, measure the area around the pool and look at the coping, levels, drainage and fence positions. We talk through non-slip, cool-finish options and how the surround needs to work with your pool and safety requirements.
- 02
Written fixed quote, itemised
Your quote details the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, your chosen non-slip finish, the expansion joints, the coping tie-in and clean-up. Everything is spelled out so you know exactly what is included, with a GST tax invoice at the end.
- 03
Booking & site preparation
We confirm a date and prepare the area around the pool, excavating and compacting the base and setting out the surround. We work carefully around the pool shell, coping and any fencing already in place.
- 04
Formwork, falls & expansion joints
We set the formwork and lock in the falls so water drains away from the pool and house, and we set out the expansion joints so the surround can move independently of the pool and the building without cracking.
- 05
Reinforcement & coping tie-in
We lay and chair up the reinforcement and prepare the tie-in to the pool coping so the transition is neat and watertight. This junction is important to get right for both looks and function.
- 06
Pour, screed & non-slip finish
We pour, screed to the falls and apply your chosen non-slip finish — commonly exposed aggregate — at the right time. For exposed finishes the wash-off timing is critical, and that is where experience counts.
- 07
Cure, seal, clean-up & walkthrough
We cure the surround, seal it to protect against salt, chemicals and UV, clean up the area and walk you through it. We let you know when it is ready to use and provide your tax invoice on completion.
Honest, Transparent Pricing
Pool surrounds are quoted as a fixed price in writing before we start, with the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, the non-slip finish, expansion joints, coping tie-in, sealing and clean-up all itemised, plus a GST tax invoice on completion. No vague verbal numbers — you will know exactly what the job includes before any work begins.
If a genuine variation comes up once we are on site — extra prep around the pool, a level issue at the coping, or ground that needs more work — we stop, explain it and agree the change in writing before we pour. You stay in control of the cost and there are no surprise extras after the fact.
We are upfront about safety and compliance, which we will not compromise on around a pool. The surround layout has to respect fencing and barrier requirements, and the finish has to be genuinely non-slip — we will give you straight advice on both rather than just pouring whatever is cheapest. Getting it right around a pool matters more than saving a few dollars.
