Polished Concrete Across the Fraser Coast

Polished concrete has become one of the most popular floor finishes for homes and businesses on the Fraser Coast, and for good reason. It is hard-wearing, easy to clean, does not harbour dust or allergens, and it suits the open, light-filled style of homes around Hervey Bay and Maryborough. Once it is done it is essentially a permanent floor that just needs the odd mop, with no carpet to replace or tiles to regrout.

There is a real range in what polished concrete can look like, and it comes down to how far you grind and how much aggregate you expose. A light grind keeps it close to the natural surface with just a hint of stone. A deeper grind exposes more aggregate for a terrazzo-like look full of stone and detail. The level of polish — from a satin honed finish through to a high gloss — changes the look and the feel underfoot. We will talk you through the levels so you get the result you are picturing.

The performance comes from more than just the shine. We use a densifier that hardens the surface from within, then seal it so it resists stains and wear and is easy to keep clean. This is what separates a proper polished floor from a quick once-over. Done right, you get a floor that looks sharp and stands up to daily life, whether it is a busy family home or a shopfront.

Polished concrete works best when planned early, ideally on a slab poured with polishing in mind, but we also polish and grind existing slabs to bring them back to life. We assess the slab honestly first, because not every floor is a good candidate, and we would rather tell you that up front than disappoint you later. Local, licensed, insured, and tidy on site.

What We Offer

Grind levels (aggregate exposure)

From a light grind with minimal stone showing through to a full grind that exposes aggregate for a terrazzo look. We match the exposure to the look you want.

Honed (satin) finish

A smooth, low-sheen finish that is softer underfoot visually and hides marks well — a popular choice for homes.

High-gloss polish

A reflective, mirror-like finish that brightens a space and suits showrooms, shops and feature areas.

Densifier treatment

A chemical densifier that hardens the surface from within, improving wear resistance and the quality of the polish.

Sealing & protection

Sealing to resist stains and make the floor easy to clean and maintain over the long term.

Indoor floors, homes & shops

Living areas, kitchens, extensions, cafes, retail and offices across the Fraser Coast — assessed and finished to suit the space.

Our Polished Concrete Process

No mystery, no shortcuts. Here's exactly how we approach every polished concrete job on the Fraser Coast — so you know what's happening at each stage.

  1. 01

Free on-site consult & slab assessment

We inspect the slab — whether it is new or existing — and check its condition, flatness and aggregate. We talk through grind levels and gloss options and give you an honest view of what finish that particular slab can achieve.

  2. 02

    Written fixed quote, itemised

Your quote details the grinding, the densifier, the polishing levels, sealing and clean-up. Because the finish depends on the slab and the level of polish, we make sure your chosen result is clearly priced before you commit.

  3. 03

    Booking & area preparation

We confirm a date and set up the area, protecting walls, fittings and adjacent surfaces. Grinding is a dust-managed process, so we prepare the space to keep the rest of your home or business clean.

  4. 04

    Coarse grinding & repairs

We grind with coarse diamonds to flatten the surface and expose the aggregate to your chosen level. Any cracks, holes or imperfections are filled and repaired at this stage so the finished floor is even.

  5. 05

    Densifying & progressive honing

We apply the densifier to harden the surface, then work through progressively finer grits to refine the finish. Each pass builds toward the satin or gloss level you have chosen.

  6. 06

    Final polish & sealing

We bring the floor up to its final sheen and apply the sealer to protect against stains and wear. This locks in the look and makes the floor easy to live with day to day.

  7. 07

    Clean-up, walkthrough & care advice

We clean up thoroughly, walk you through the finished floor, and give you simple maintenance advice on cleaning products and resealing down the track. Your tax invoice is provided on completion.

No surprises

Honest, Transparent Pricing

Polished concrete is quoted as a fixed written price before we start, with the grinding, densifier, polishing levels, sealing and clean-up all itemised, and a GST tax invoice on completion. The finish depends heavily on the slab, so we lock your chosen grind level and gloss into the quote so you know exactly what you are getting for the price.

Because we are working with an existing slab on many jobs, we are upfront about variability. The aggregate, colour variation and the odd hidden imperfection only fully reveal themselves once grinding begins. We will keep you in the loop, and if anything genuine changes the scope we discuss and agree it in writing before going further — no surprise extras.

Most importantly, we give you an honest assessment of your slab before you spend a cent. Not every floor is a good candidate for high-gloss polishing, and if your slab will suit a honed finish better, or if a coating or resurfacing would give you a better result, we will tell you straight. We would rather set the right expectation than over-promise a finish the slab cannot deliver.

Polished Concrete FAQs

Can you polish my existing concrete floor?
Often yes, but it depends on the slab's condition, flatness and the aggregate in it. We assess it first and give you an honest view of the finish it can achieve. Some existing slabs polish up beautifully, while others suit a honed finish or a coating better — we will tell you which before you commit.
Is polished concrete slippery?
A sealed polished floor has similar slip resistance to other smooth hard floors when dry, and we can adjust the finish and use anti-slip additives in the sealer where needed, such as in entries or wet areas. For homes it is generally fine; we will discuss any areas where extra grip makes sense.
How much aggregate (stone) will show in my floor?
That is up to you and the slab. A light grind shows little stone for a more uniform look, while a deeper grind exposes more aggregate for a stone-filled, terrazzo style. The slab itself limits how much is available to expose, which is why we assess it first and set realistic expectations.
How do I maintain a polished concrete floor?
It is very low maintenance — regular sweeping or mopping with a pH-neutral cleaner keeps it looking good, and you avoid harsh acidic cleaners. Depending on traffic, a reseal or re-polish every few years keeps the sheen up. We give you a simple care routine when we hand over.
Is the grinding process messy?
Grinding does create dust, but we use dust-managed equipment and protect the surrounding area so the rest of your home or business stays clean. We set up properly before we start and clean up thoroughly afterwards, so the disruption is kept to a minimum.
