Concrete Patios & Carports Across the Fraser Coast

A good patio or alfresco area is where you actually live for a big chunk of the year on the Fraser Coast. Long warm evenings, the cricket on out the back, mates over for a barbecue — it all happens on that slab. So it is worth getting it right. We pour patio slabs, alfresco areas and carport slabs across Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the surrounding region, finished to look great and built to handle the weather and the foot traffic.

The finish is yours to choose. A plain broom finish is clean and cost-effective, coloured concrete ties the area in with your home, and exposed aggregate gives a premium textured look with good grip underfoot. For an outdoor area that sees rain, spills and bare feet, the finish is not just about looks — it is about a surface that is safe when wet and easy to keep clean. We will help you pick what suits the space and the way you use it.

Two things make or break an outdoor slab: drainage and the tie-in to the house. Water has to drain away from the building, not pool on the slab or run back toward the walls, so we set the falls carefully. And where the new slab meets your home, the level and the junction need to be handled properly — getting it wrong can affect doors, thresholds and even let water track inside. We sort both of these as standard, not as an afterthought.

Whether your patio is a fresh pour on a bare area, an extension of an existing slab, or a carport slab that needs to take vehicle weight, we build it for the job. Compacted base, correct reinforcement, the right thickness, proper falls and a neat tie-in. Local, QBCC licensed and insured, and we leave your outdoor space clean and ready to enjoy.

Our Patios & Carports Process

No mystery, no shortcuts. Here's exactly how we approach every patios & carports job on the Fraser Coast — so you know what's happening at each stage.

  1. 01

    Free on-site consult & measure-up

We visit, measure the area and look at how it relates to your home, existing levels and drainage. We talk through finishes and how you will use the space so the slab suits the way you actually live outdoors.

  2. 02

    Written fixed quote, itemised

You get a written quote covering the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, your chosen finish, the tie-in and clean-up. Everything is spelled out so you know exactly what is included before you commit, with a GST tax invoice at the end.

  3. 03

    Booking & site preparation

We confirm a date and arrive on time to excavate, set out and compact the base. We pay particular attention to levels relative to the house so the finished slab sits correctly against doors and thresholds.

  4. 04

    Formwork & drainage falls

We set the formwork and lock in the falls so water drains away from the building. For an outdoor slab this is critical, and we check it carefully before any concrete goes near it.

  5. 05

    Reinforcement & house tie-in

We lay and chair up the reinforcement and prepare the junction where the slab meets your home, so the tie-in is sound and weatherproofing is not compromised.

  6. 06

    Pour, screed & chosen finish

We pour, screed to the falls and apply your chosen finish — broom, colour or exposed aggregate — at the right time. Control joints are cut where needed to manage shrinkage.

  7. 07

    Cure, clean-up & walkthrough

We cure the slab, clean up the site and cart away the rubbish, then walk you through it and explain when you can use it. Sealing advice and your tax invoice are provided on completion.

No surprises

Honest, Transparent Pricing

Your patio or alfresco slab is quoted as a fixed price in writing before we start, with the base prep, reinforcement, concrete, finish, house tie-in and clean-up all itemised, and a GST tax invoice on completion. No vague verbal prices and nothing added after the fact — the figure you approve is the figure you pay.

If something genuine turns up once we excavate — softer ground, buried obstacles, or a level issue against the house that needs more work — we stop, explain it plainly and agree any variation in writing before we pour. You stay in control of the cost, and there are no surprises sprung on you later.

We will also give you honest advice on the practical side, like whether your patio needs roofing co-ordinated, whether the falls require a particular layout, or whether a finish you like will be slippery in the wet. If a simpler or cheaper approach will serve you just as well, we will say so. Straight talk is how we work across the Fraser Coast.

Concrete Patios & Carports FAQs

How do you stop water pooling on my patio?
By setting the right falls in the slab so water always runs away from the house and off the surface. We check and double-check the falls before pouring, because once concrete is down it cannot be changed. Proper falls are the single most important thing for keeping an outdoor slab dry and usable.
Can you tie a new patio into my existing slab or house?
Yes, and we do it neatly. We tie new concrete into existing slabs with proper joints to manage movement, and where the patio meets your home we handle the levels and junction carefully so doors, thresholds and weatherproofing are not affected. A poorly done tie-in can cause real problems, so we get it right.
What finish is best for an alfresco area?
It comes down to looks, budget and safety. Broom is clean and cost-effective, coloured concrete ties in with the home, and exposed aggregate looks premium and gives great grip when wet. For an area with rain and bare feet, we lean toward finishes with good slip resistance. We will recommend what suits your space.
Can I put a roof or pergola over the slab later?
Yes — many patios get covered down the track. If you know a roof or pergola is planned, tell us at the quote stage so we can co-ordinate footings or fixing points where needed. Planning it in early saves cutting into the slab later. We are happy to advise on what suits your plans.
Does a carport slab need to be thicker than a patio?
Yes. A carport slab carries vehicle weight, so it needs more thickness and reinforcement than a slab that only takes foot traffic and furniture. We build each to suit its use, so a carport slab is poured to handle the load while a patio is built for living on. It is all sized correctly in your quote.
