Concrete Slabs & Shed Slabs Across the Fraser Coast

A concrete slab is the foundation everything else sits on, so it is not the place to cut corners. Whether you are putting up a new shed at your place in Maryborough, pouring a garage slab in Hervey Bay or laying the footings and slab for a new home or extension, the quality of the slab determines how well the structure stands up over time. Get the prep, footings and reinforcement right and you have a base that will not move, crack or let you down.

We pour shed slabs, garage slabs, house slabs and machinery slabs across the Fraser Coast, all built to the relevant Australian Standards. That means correct slab thickness, footings sized for the loads, steel reinforcement positioned to spec, a proper vapour barrier where needed, and edge thickenings and footings where the structure needs extra support. If your project needs an engineer's design or certification, we work to those drawings exactly.

Soils around the Fraser Coast vary a lot. Some blocks have reactive clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry, which can crack a poorly built slab. Others are sandy and need a different approach to compaction and drainage. We do not guess at this. We prepare the site properly, compact the base, and build the slab to handle the ground it is sitting on, following the engineering where one is provided.

As a local, QBCC licensed and insured crew, we take site prep seriously because it is the part that gets hidden once the concrete goes down. Strip and level, compacted fill, sand bedding, vapour barrier, reinforcement chaired up, footings dug and tied in — all done before the truck arrives. Then a clean pour, a level finish, proper curing and a tidy site when we are done.

What We Offer

Shed & garage slabs

Slabs sized and reinforced for sheds, garages and workshops, with edge thickenings and bolt-down provisions to suit your kit or builder's requirements.

House slabs & extensions

Waffle pod and conventional slabs poured to engineering drawings for new homes, granny flats and extensions across the Fraser Coast.

Footings & edge beams

Footings dug, formed and reinforced to carry the structure's loads, tied into the slab so everything works together as one unit.

Reinforcement to AS standards

Steel mesh and bar laid out and chaired to the correct cover and position so the slab performs as designed and meets the standards.

Site prep & compaction

Strip, level, fill and compact the base, with sand bedding and a vapour barrier where required, so the slab sits on a stable, dry foundation.

Reactive soil solutions

We build to suit local clay and sandy soils, following geotech and engineering recommendations so the slab handles ground movement.

Our Slabs & Shed Slabs Process

No mystery, no shortcuts. Here's exactly how we approach every slabs & shed slabs job on the Fraser Coast — so you know what's happening at each stage.

  1. 01

    Free on-site consult & measure-up

We visit the block, check access for the concrete truck and pump if needed, and look at the ground conditions and levels. If you have an engineer's design or builder's plans, we go through them so the quote matches exactly what is required.

  2. 02

    Written fixed quote, itemised

You receive a written quote that breaks down the excavation, fill, compaction, formwork, reinforcement, vapour barrier, concrete and finish. Everything is spelled out so you know precisely what is included before you commit.

  3. 03

    Booking & site preparation

We lock in a date and turn up on time to strip the topsoil and set the levels. The base is brought up with compacted fill where needed so the slab sits at the correct height with a stable foundation underneath.

  4. 04

    Formwork, footings & vapour barrier

We set the formwork to the right dimensions and falls, dig and form the footings and edge beams, and lay the vapour barrier and sand bedding where the design calls for it. This is where the slab's accuracy is locked in.

  5. 05

    Reinforcement to spec

Steel mesh and bar are positioned, tied and chaired up to the correct cover so the reinforcement does its job. Where there is an engineer's design, we follow the reinforcement schedule to the letter.

  6. 06

    Pour, screed & finish

We pour, screed to level and finish the slab to the required surface — a smooth finish for floors or a textured finish where grip matters. The slab is checked for level and the edges are tidied off neatly.

  7. 07

    Curing, clean-up & handover

We cure the slab properly to build strength and reduce cracking risk, then clear the site of all offcuts and rubbish. We let you know when it is ready for building work to begin and hand over your tax invoice.

No surprises

Honest, Transparent Pricing

Your slab is quoted as a fixed price in writing before we start, with the excavation, fill and compaction, formwork, footings, reinforcement, vapour barrier, concrete and finish all itemised. You get a GST tax invoice and a clear picture of what your money is paying for. We never give a rough verbal figure and then add to it once the job is underway.

Site conditions on slabs are the most common place for genuine variations, usually around fill quantities or ground that turns out to need more work than the surface suggested. If that happens we measure it, explain it plainly and get your written approval before we proceed — well before any concrete is poured. You stay in control of the cost the whole way through.

We also give honest advice on what your project actually needs. We will not talk you into an oversized slab or extra footings that the engineering does not call for, and if your plans require an engineer's design or certification we will tell you up front rather than pouring something that will not pass inspection. Doing it right the first time is cheaper for everyone.

Concrete Slabs & Shed Slabs FAQs

Do I need an engineer's design for my slab?
House slabs, larger sheds and anything carrying significant load generally require an engineer's design and often council approval. Smaller domestic slabs may not. We can tell you what your project needs and work directly to an engineer's drawings if one is involved, so the slab is built and certified correctly.
How thick is a shed or garage slab?
A typical domestic shed or garage slab is around 100mm thick with thickened edges and reinforcement, but it depends on the size of the structure and what will be stored or worked on inside. Slabs carrying heavy machinery or vehicles need more thickness and steel. We size it correctly for your use and put it in the quote.
How long until I can build on the slab?
You can usually start light work on a slab after a few days, but it keeps gaining strength for weeks. For erecting a steel shed kit, builders often wait around 7 days. We will give you specific guidance for your slab based on the mix, the weather and what is going on top of it.
What is done about reactive clay soils on my block?
Reactive clay swells and shrinks with moisture, which can crack a slab that is not designed for it. The answer is a combination of correct site prep, the right slab type and reinforcement, and following any geotech and engineering recommendations. On the Fraser Coast this is common, and we build to suit the ground rather than ignoring it.
Do you do the site prep or do I need someone else?
We handle the lot — stripping, levelling, bringing in and compacting fill, sand bedding and the vapour barrier — as part of the job. It is all included in your written quote so there is no juggling multiple trades or hidden gaps in the work.
